Day 2 : Surat Thani – River Kwai, Kanchanaburi

We left Surat Thani as early as 6.00 am. River Kwai Kanchanaburi is located almost 650 km from Surat Thani. We would not wanna ride fast therefore leaving early is a better option. Riding along Route 4 from Surat Thani to Prachuap Kiri Khan was long and boring. We were lucky as the weather was slightly gloomy as we were in Chumphon district which made our ride was cool without a sweat. Almost every day, Chumphon district area always gets a lot showers. It is advisable not to pass Chumphon in the afternoon or evening unless if you prefer to ride in the rain..

We stopped at Khaopho Service Area in Prachuap Khiri Khan for refueling and coffee break.. I had the fortune to meet two of my Thai friends at the service area as they were from Krung Thep Bangkok heading back home to Chumphon.. We have met during my ride in Chumphon and we went to a Thai concert in Cross Road..

We continued riding on Route 4 and as we reached Ratchaburi, we switched to Route 323 that lead us to River Kwai in Kanchanaburi.

We stayed at Ploy Guesthouse, which faces the River Kwai. It was my second time staying at Ploy Guesthouse.. I remember during my first stay at Ploy Guesthouse, it was very difficult to find it although it is located along Maenamkwai Road.. You will need to find Ploy Guesthouse signage which is hidden between trees..

We booked a double bedroom for RM 68.00 per night and check-in process was fast and easy.. Ploy Guesthouse can only be booked via its website at www.ploygh.com  …

The weather in Kanchanaburi was so beautiful, hot and great for swimming. Changed our Harley outfit to swimming attire and jumped into the swimming pool.. The infinity pool is facing the River Kwai..

In the evening, we strolled to Bridge On The River Kwai and Kanchanaburi War Cemetery..

The Kanchanaburi War Cemetery (known locally as the Don-Rak War Cemetery) is the main prisoner of war aka POW cemetery for victims of Japanese imprisonment while building the Burma Railway. There are 1,896 Dutch war graves, the rest being from Britain and the Commonwealth.. Two graves contain the ashes of 300 men who were cremated.

Later, we had a huge seafood dinner at Aom Chicken Leg restaurant. It is famous for its chicken soup and also seafood.. Aom Chicken Leg restaurant is located opposite River Kwai Hotel..

Hungry face..

We managed to finish all of the meals and we were absolutely full!!!

We travelled 650 km from Surat Thani to Kanchanaburi and it took us nearly 7 hours including refueling and few times of coffee break..

HooRahh!!
