Mae Hong Son 1864 Corners & Pai on Scooter

Mae Hong Son 1864 Corners… speaking of the infamous “Thousand Corners” or “1000 Corners”, I have successfully done it for FIVE times..

The Fifth time, a friend of mine Din aka Wadin BFull really wanted to experience the Mae Hong Son 1864 Corners but he does not own a big bike and had only short holidays. So i decided to guide him to Mae Hong Son from Chiang Mai by taking a flight to Chiang Mai and rented scooters. Currently, only Air Asia operates KUL - CNX daily. It took us only 5 days to enough to cover Chiang Mai - Pai - Mae Hong Son - Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai.

The scooters which we rented were Honda Click with 125cc EFI and cost only 200 Baht per bike / day from Chiang Mai Pop Rider.
  

As we arrived at Chiang Mai Airport (CNX), we went straight to Chiang Mai Pop Rider to get our scooters.

We then checked in at Tha Phae Hotel which is next to Wat Buppharam for 750 Baht per night including breakfast.

The next morning after breakfast, we left Chiang Mai heading to Pai on Route 107 and Route 1095. To get out of Chiang Mai city, we rode to Chang Phueak Gate that leads us to Route 107. The distance from Chiang Mai to Pai is 140 km and took us 3 hours to reach Pai.

I told Din to start counting on corners we’ve had the moment turned to Route 1095. We had couple of stops for photos and coffee. That’s the greatest thing for riding a scooter (small bike) than big bike as we could stop anywhere at anytime.

As we had fun riding on short and long corners to Pai, we reached Pai In Love Café for coffee and cakes. The first time I came to Pai In Love Café back in 2010 and it was not as crowded and famous as it is now.

We went for a tour in Pai Town visiting the memorial "Nawarat Bridge", which was built in 1912.

Then we reached Pai town and checked in at Yoma Hotel, which is located very near to Street Market and Pai Airport. It was my second time to stay at Yoma Hotel.

Yoma Hotel room is lovely and the view is facing mountains and paddy field. The view of its infinity swimming pool, facing the paddy field, is really relaxing and makes me wanna come to stay again at Yoma Hotel in Pai.

Usually after taking a swim, i would have a free and easy to walk around the town.. We had Khao Soi Gai for lunch. Khao Soi Gai is a Burmese-influenced dish served widely in Northern Thailand. The curry gravy is similar to massaman curry in Southern Thailand but it has a thinner consistency.

The breakfast at Yoma Hotel was great and I just love to have breakfast in the outdoor restaurant with the early morning chilling breeze.

Then we checked out the hotel and headed to Mae Hong Son town with the scooters..
