Pai to Mae Hong Son on 125cc Scooters, Thailand

Heyya..

Me and Wadin BFull left Pai as we were heading to Mae Hong Son on the next morning after having breakfast at Yoma Hotel. The weather was foggy and we rode through morning mist. It got colder as we reached the Kiew Lom View Point, approximately 25 km from Pai. If the weather is fine, you can see few mountain peaks of Northern Thailand such as Doi Pleu, Doi Sammuen, Doi Chiang Daw and Doi Maeya from the Kiew Lom View Point.

Then we continued riding to Mae Hong Son with the distance of 110km on Route 1095. The ride on scooter took us 3 hours to reach Mae Hong Son town.  We did not ride fast because we were enjoying the scenery and made couple of stops for photo shoots and coffee break.

As we were approaching Mae Hong Son town, we bumped into a café called Coffee 1864. Usually if I ride a bigger bike like BMW GSA or Harley Davidson, I could have missed this café and could not be bothered to make u-turn to stop for a coffee. But riding a scooter has lots of advantages. We could see more scenery and make u-turn or stop anywhere as we want. We can easily park our scooters than having big bikes.

As we reached Mae Hong Son, we checked in at Baiyoke Chalet. I would stay at Baiyoke Chalet everytime I come to Mae Hong Son because the hotel is in the middle of Mae Hong Son town, huge and safe parking lot and the room price is cheap including breakfast.

After checked in, we walked to Mae Hong Son Chamber of Commerce which is located 100 meters from Baiyoke Chalet to get our Mae Hong Son 1864 Corners Certificates. This is my Fifth 1864 Corners certificate.

Then i brought Wadin BFull to a Wat Phrathat Doi Kongmu temple at the peak of Mae Hong Son Doi Kongmu mountain. From this temple, you could see the view of Mae Hong Son town. Not many people know that this is the best view point of Mae Hong Son town from this temple. You could see the airport, lake and another temple next to the lake.

We came down and looked for a lunch near to the airport and found a perfect beef noodles served with very spicy som tam.

For Dinner, we had grilled Tilapia fish with sticky rice and thai salad, khao pad thalay (fried rice with seafood) and Kluai Buad Chi (Thai sweet banana in coconut milk dessert) at the night market next to the Lake Jong Kham and Wat Jong Kham Temple.

We went back to the hotel to get enough of rest as we planned to ride to Chiang Rai from Mae Hong Son early in the morning. The distance from Mae Hong Son to Chiang Rai is 450 km and it took us 8 hours to reach Chiang Rai on a 125cc scooter.
